Meet Our Staff

Father Douglas offers the kind of prayerful, pastorally strong leadership that we wanted for St Francis by the Sea.   He holds Master’s degrees from Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology in Nova Scotia where he was valedictorian and one in music from The Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. He was ordained in 2019 and immediately he served in The Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.  Most recently he has served both Trinity in Castine and St Augustine's in Dover - Foxcroft Maine. 

 

Prior to ordination he held positions at:

~  Virginia theological seminary

~  He was choirmaster St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia

~  He was worked at the Bangor theological seminary;

~  He currently holds positions within our diocese organizing clergy retreats and is     

        involved in clergy formation.

~  He is the current co-chair of the diocesan Clergy Formation Committee.

~   He has recently been elected by the diocese as our regional rep to Diocesan Council,

        a term that begins this December. 

~   He is an oblate in the Episcopal monastic order of Julian of Norwich

 

He has worshipped with us at St Francis in the past, and has been our substitute organist and Choir Director on occasion.   He said that St. Francis already feels like home to him and his husband, Tom.  He is a calm, deliberative, prayerful leader who listens with intentional presence.
